Back on the Blogging Front

So after what, 3 Years, I've decided to get back to blogging. A lot has changed in the past years. . . Relationships had, relationships failed, loved ones lost, life journeys have taken place. All of which have made me who I am today. I went back and read all of my old posts this evening, I realized that most of my old blogs were very consistant in 3 things: 1. I have fallen off and gotten back on the God wagon almost every other week, 2. I hated working at Cold Stone and threatened to quit every post it seemed like, and 3. I always had some sort of life changing event that made me hate someone.

Hopefully as I have grown up I will have better things to talk about. Mostly Iwant this new chapter of my life to be about my faith in God. The love that He has lavished on me, encouragement, words of love and humility.

Last May I went to a concert for my favorite band, I met up with a friends 'little sister' since she was attending the concert by herself. I talked her into working at the water park with me, her name, Fran. She became my best friend for the time being. Through-out the summer we became amazing friends, along with her 'brother' Thomas. Thomas is a gentleman who has basically grown up with Fran, He is Fran's older brother's best friend, He's the one who suggested we meet up at the concert together. We all stayed very close over the summer and most the winter. . . When Fran would come home for the weekend from college I would go visit her and her family. . . In November I spent my Thanksgiving evening playing Monopoly with her, Thomas, Aubrey (a friend from the park) and her real brother Christopher.

Time passed and Christmas came around, I spent a lot of time at the Spivey residence, hanging out with her family, and getting to know Chris. After New Years, a group of us decided to go snowboarding, where inevitably one of us got hurt, of course it was Fran. She broke a part of her arm, so a few days later as she was going back to her dorm, I volunteered to help her (before she had broken her arm) she was also moving a fridge into her 3rd story dorm room... Since she had a broken arm, I asked Chris if he would join us so I didn't have to carry the thing by myself. A very legitimate reason. After a night of very innocent flirting we dropped her off. While walking down her hallway all the doors had Masquerade masks, we both kept expressing how we wanted one, so He took one off the door as people were beginning to leave that room, we ran down the hall like bandits and into my car to begin the drive home. While driving we had a few good conversations. Not much more than small talk to keep the awkward silence to a minimum, but none the less some good conversations. We got to his house around 3am and since they live about 20 miles away from me, I decided to just crash there. We started watching movies in his living room, remember, 3am. . . LATE. . . haha. I ended up falling asleep on his shoulder, slightly planned, slightly not. Not far into me being asleep I feel him lay his head on mine, knowing he was asleep. We ended up cuddling on his couch that night. Seeing as he was my best friends older brother, I didnt really know how many boundries I was crossing. . . But I still remember the way he held me that night. I remember breathing him in everytime he hugged me. It felt perfect.

We started dating January 6th, 2009. By our fourth date, we knew it was right. We knew we were meant to be together and started talking about a future. After six weeks he proposed to me. It was Valentine's Day. It was done in the best way possible. At the beginning of the night he gave me my present. . . A Pearl ring surrounded by diamonds. I got my hopes up right around the second he said, 'It's not an engagement ring, I don't think its the right time for that.' So after all of our previous planning, I figured, maybe we're not ready. The night went on as planned, all surprises for me. Dinner with friends, The Idiot Box (my favorite happy place), Dessert at Ganache concluded by a walk in my favorite park. All the while he kept asking me if I was disappointed in him not proposing to me, lying I said no. . . maybe it's not the right time I kept saying to myself. . . At dessert, he even told me that Ganache was the spot he was going to propose to me, but I ruined it by saying I didnt like a certain ring, I had ruined the plan. . . --Back tracking, about a month before that, we went ring shopping with my sister's boyfriend for my sister, and he had pointed out a ring that I said I didnt like, apparently it was the one he planned on proposing with, instead I showed him a pearl ring I loved, the one I got, and another ring that instead of diamonds I would want it in something like a dark saphire. -- So the entire night was just about how I ruined it. . . in my head I was basically saying how typical of me. . . haha. As we were walking through the park on our way back to the car, he knelt down to tie his shoe, but before coming back up, he pulled out the diamond and saphire ring I had unknowingly picked out as my ring. He told me before wasnt the right time, but now was. . . Of course I said yes, who wouldnt?!?!?!

The downfall- I knew he was leaving for Iraq in March. I knew that he was going to be deployed for at least a year. Thats where he is now. Yet I still agreed. From day one, I knew that he was the one for me. So thats my updated life. I'm engaged to my best friends older brother and my friends best friend. Confusing? haha. I still have that Masquerade mask taped to my dashboard. The same place he put it 8 months ago.

I've never been so in love in my life. . . :)
